about julia
Julia Lynn's photography reflects her love of the outdoors and architecture, meeting new people and storytelling. Her portfolio is built around a blend of portrait photography, lifestyle, travel, and interior photography.
She also shoots plenty of personal projects, which fulfill her need to document life, places, and people. Julia especially loves documenting places that are "forgotten" or are fading away with the passage of time. She is especially drawn to the documentary aspect of art and recording our history for future generations.
Constantly scouting for the perfect location, she is particularly drawn to the vibrant characters and historic architecture of her native south. The combination of a perfect location and an interesting mind can really bring a story to life on film. "Each photo should tell a complete story," says Julia, "like a movie in a single frame". Elements, location and character are all built around the story.
Originally from Roanoke, VA, Julia studied at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee and then commercial photography at the Portfolio Center in Atlanta, GA. She currently resides in Charleston, SC with her husband, two children and dog. She is a member of the South Carolina chapter of ASMP and is active in her local photography community.
